ADD-ON Information for 2012 Season

Hi

After you've registered for your veggie share you will receive optional add-on information.

This year we have the following as optional add-ons...

Eggs: from Tello Farm. Free range hens that eat a bit of feed with no hormones, antibiotics or soy protein! They live primarily outdoors roaming around 10+ acres, eating bugs, worms & grass. They are supplemented with feed that is vegetarian and contains no antibiotics or hormones.

Bread Share: from Grand Daisy Bakery. We are again offering a breadshares as either a single share (1 loaf a week) or a couple share (2 loaves a week). We are going to mix up the selection a  bit more this year than last & we can also add in things like pizza bianco and other sweet or savory items periodically.

Goat Cheese Share: Painted Goat Farm is a small goat dairy farm in Central New York, near Cooperstown and Oneonta.  Started by a husband & wife team in 2006. They built their home, barns, and cheese house.  In 2007 they became licensed to milk and process cheese.  They milk about 60 goats, starting in March and ending in December.  In total, they have about 75 goats, 25 chickens, and usually raise 2 pigs and a garden where they grow most of their own vegetables and herbs.

Sweet or Savory Pie Share: Red Barn Bakery is a small organic bakery in Irvington, NY. We will be offering hand baked sweet & savory pies using only organic & locally sourced ingredients! Many of the ingredients are from Stone Barns Farm. For a pie or savory tart share it would be $18 a week which works out to a full share (24 pies/tarts) $432. If you would like a sweet AND a savory each week that is also an option. If you would prefer a pie every other week it would be  $216.  There will also be some specialty items that can be ordered with a week's advance notice.

The CSA will again buy some extra of each add on share which will be sold on a 1st come 1st serve basis. If you know you will need a  pie or some cheese, etc. but haven't bought a share arrive early that week or feel free to send me an email requesting something.

All payment info will be sent to you personally once you have signed up.

Enjoy the day!

Danielle

March 2012

Please send out the word that registration for the 2012 season is open! If your friends are interested please send them to the farm site

We will be doing another big Market Place on Tuesday April 17th from 4:30-7pm in The Warburgh Auditorium on the ground floor. Please come, brings friends & Family, and spread the word! We will have some great new vendors as well as some favorites returning! I will post the list of who will be there as we get closer.

I have posted this year's schedule in the schedule section. Check it out. We have quite a few THursday pick ups due to holidays. By moving the pickups to Thursdays we are able to save the farm thousands of dollars by allowing them to share trucking costs for those days.

A MESSAGE FROM THE FARM:

Dear CSA Members

2012 CSA is underway.  We have been seeding in the greenhouse every day.  Onions, white and red, and shallots are the first to be planted.  The greenhouse is a wonderful environment after the dreary wintertime.  A giant modern day solarium: warm, bright with any sunlight that pops through the late winter sky and the smell of earth.

Next will come the hot peppers, they take so long to grow.  Even after months of tending, the transplants will be very small when we eventually transplant them in the field.  Once they are rooted though, and the heat of the summer takes hold, they grow quickly and seem to soak up the heat into their beautiful, very hot fruit.

Membership shares are selling at all of the CSA sites.  If you have not registered or if you know of someone that may be interested, please go to the farm website to order a share for 2012.

Welcome 2012.
